PRIMERA LLEI DE NEWTON – The hit production from the Grec Festival opens the new season at La Villarroel.

17/08/2026

On 2 September, La Villarroel kicks off its new season with Primera llei de Newton, the major audience and critical success of its production presented as part of the Grec Festival, where most performances sold out.

The new play by Eu Manzanares explores the everyday challenges faced by a high-complexity secondary school and the contradictions that often emerge between the education system and the family and social realities of its students. It is a powerful and thought-provoking portrait of academic inequality that invites reflection on the limits and responsibilities of contemporary education.

Directed by Nelson Valente and starring Lua Amat, Dafnis Balduz, Sara Diego, Rosa Gamiz, Anna Sahun and Max Vilarrasa, the production has captivated both audiences and critics thanks to the strength of its narrative and its deeply sensitive staging.

Specialised critics have praised both the quality of the writing and the stage direction, describing it as an essential piece of theatre and highlighting in particular the outstanding work of a cast that brings to life, with authenticity and emotion, a reality that is as complex as it is important to see represented on stage.
