On 9 July, Primera llei de Newton officially premiered at La Villarroel as part of the Grec Festival and, since then, the production has established itself as one of the standout shows of this year’s Grec Festival. Most performances have sold out, while critics have praised both the script and the staging, describing it as essential viewing and highlighting the outstanding work of the cast.
Eu Manzanares’ new play explores the challenges faced in a high-complexity secondary school and the contradictions between the education system and the social and family realities of its students. A powerful portrait of academic inequality, the production is directed by Nelson Valente and stars Lua Amat, Dafnis Balduz, Sara Diego, Rosa Gamiz, Anna Sahun and Max Vilarrasa.
The production will play its final performances of this first run on Sunday, 2 August. Primera llei de Newton will then return to La Villarroel from 2 September, resuming performances of one of the season’s most acclaimed productions.
