Gegant is already one of the great successes of this year’s Grec Festival

16/07/2025

Gegant, the show starring Josep Maria Pou, has become, in just one week on stage, one of the most successful titles of this year’s Grec Festival of Barcelona.

Gegant is the first-ever worldwide adaptation of the play by Mark Rosenblatt, which premiered in London’s West End last autumn and has since sold out performances both at the Royal Court and the Harold Pinter Theater, where it remains in repertory, becoming the sensation of this year’s British theatre scene.

The translated version by Joan Sellent has now arrived at the Teatre Romea, directed by Josep Maria Mestres and starring one of the leading figures of contemporary theatre, Josep Maria Pou, joined on stage by Pep Planas, Victòria Pagès, Clàudia Benito, Aida Llop, and Jep Barceló.

In addition to the show’s enthusiastic reception from the public, it has also received widespread critical acclaim, once again praising the performance of Josep Maria Pou and highlighting both the relevance and quality of the script, as well as the precise pacing brought to it by the direction of Josep Maria Mestres.

Gegant premiered on Saturday, July 5, and will run for only four weeks, until August 3.
