Grand Canyon returns — the powerful play by Sergi Pompermayer about the need to fight for dreams and freedom

16/07/2025

Directed by Pere Arquillué and featuring a cast led by Joan Carreras and Mireia Aixalà, the show premiered as part of the GREC Festival and will now open the season at La Villarroel, once again presenting this raw and moving story about inequality, social precariousness, and despair — which is also, at heart, a tribute to freedom and the pursuit of our dreams.

The second of Sergi Pompermayer’s “American stories” and a conceptual (though not narrative) continuation of Amèrica, also premiered at La Villarroel, Grand Canyon has had a strong impact on both critics and audiences. It has been praised for the powerful performances of the cast, the immersive atmosphere of its staging, and Pompermayer’s text — hailed as one of the finest works ever written by the author.

The production will run for 2 weeks only at La Villarroel.
