Memorias de Adriano, the show based on the work by Marguerite Yourcenar, directed by Beatriz Jaén and starring Lluís Homar, premiered on September 19th at Madrid’s Teatro Marquina and has since enjoyed huge success with both critics and audiences.
The production, which will end its run in Madrid on October 12th, has sold out every single performance since opening night, and only a few tickets remain for the final shows.
To its box-office success we can add the acclaim from critics, who have praised not only Beatriz Jaén’s bold direction but also Lluís Homar’s outstanding performance.
Memorias de Adriano is based on the novel of the same name by Marguerite Yourcenar, with dramaturgy by Brenda Escobedo from Julio Cortázar’s translation. Joining Homar — who gives voice to Emperor Hadrian’s solitude — are Clara Mingueza, Álvar Nahuel, Marc Domingo, Xavi Casan, and Ricard Boyle.
After its run in Madrid, the production will embark on a nationwide tour across Spain, culminating in spring 2026 on the stage of Barcelona’s Teatre Romea.
