Una madre - FOCUS

A motherIt is an emotional journey that begins with a family encounter between Amalia, an older woman, and her three children at a crucial moment in their lives. But it's not just that: it's above all the portrait of the bond in all its facets. There is here a confluence of pending accounts accumulated between the brothers that the work transforms into the present and there is also a desire for truth, for what has not been said in years of closeness and common experience to resonate and heal. There is, above all, a sincere longing for relief.

Since it began its journey in fiction I knew that, as had already happened with Air Island and its theatrical adaptation, this family was stage material. They are all too corporeal, too real, so much life could not be kept locked on paper. I also knew that to make the leap onto the scene I needed a writing partner who also knew how to convert all the vulnerabilities that intersect here into a unique experience. Juan Carlos Rubio was the person, the only one who could do it. Working with him on the text has been to enrich, add and discover new nuances that multiply the echo of the mark that this family leaves on whoever approaches it.

No one except him could direct A Mother, because for that you have to be a family. And he already is.
