#GransTeatrerus launches its third season

17/06/2025

The intergenerational project #GransTeatrerus, driven by the Grup Focus, opens the call to form new pairs of theatregoers for the 2025–2026 season. This social initiative aims to combat unwanted loneliness among older people and to promote active ageing through theatre and culture.

#GransTeatrerus builds connections between older adults (aged 75 and above) and young people (aged 18 to 30) so they can share the experience of going to the theatre together. From leaving home to returning, they enjoy the performance side by side and discuss it afterwards. Performances take place at Focus Group theatres — Teatre Romea, Teatre Goya, Teatre Condal and La Villarroel — and the programme also includes complementary activities, such as meetings with leading figures from the Catalan stage.

In this new edition, 25 new pairs will join the 65 existing ones, created during the first two seasons. Moreover, the Gothic Quarter is added as a reference area for participating older adults, alongside the Raval, Sant Antoni, Poble-sec, and Esquerra de l’Eixample neighbourhoods.

The selection process for older participants is carried out in coordination with local community representatives, and includes two mandatory information sessions. After the summer, a training session for young participants will take place on 30 September at Escola Massana, followed by a matching session on 2 October, also at the same venue.

Join #GransTeatrerus and experience theatre like never before — sharing emotions, reflections, and stories across generations.
